To support our goals to help every student become lifetime learners, we are in need of more literacy, mathematics and science materials to foster our hands-on approach to learning and exploration. This will help to assist with our curriculum and enrich the student learning experience, as well as lay the foundation blocks for a lifetime of learning and success. We use centers daily as part of work time, which allow children to explore materials to build their understanding. We are in need for more items to make that happen in these 3 areas. We need to work on literacy skills such as, letter recognition and formation. The letter stampers, magnetic letter builders, letter sound matching, trace and write center, letter stencils, pre-writing board and tactile alphabet will support a foundation for reading skills. The mystery box and touch and guess set will help to foster descriptive vocabulary skills. For math building blocks, we will be using ten frames, hands-on math trays, counters, shape stencils, tactile numbers, creating shapes center and Magnatiles. For science, we have asked for Can Do! science kits to cover topics like magnets, sound, light and sink and float. The Magnatiles will also help. The Fairy Tale Stem kit will tie everything together, using literature as a basis to learn engineering and math concepts. All the items we have listed will go into our center rotation to get the students ready for kindergarten by learning shapes, letters, writing, math and number skills so all our students can become lifetime learners!
