My classroom is comprised of 21 energetic, engaging, creative, and curious kindergartners. They come to me with a variety of abilities, experiences, interests, and needs. While some students enter my classroom with a wealth of prior knowledge and experience, many enter kindergarten with limited skills or lack exposure to educational opportunities. I would like to bridge this educational gap by utilizing technology in the classroom. Technology is becoming a key and essential component of education. In order to enhance learning through technology we need greater access to it. Unfortunately, due to budget cuts we have very limited access to technology. We have one student computer and a teacher computer that I share with my students. We visit the computer lab once a week for 40 minutes. My students enjoy computer lab and often ask when they can use the computers again. Having two Nooks with accessories in the classroom will allow students to interact with technology on a daily basis.
