My class all voted to have a map in the classroom (California, states and world) to better grasp geographical and historical concepts during social studies and ELA lessons! Our goal is California history but we are always using the world around us to better understand why. My students would love to find the state and match the capitals during centers. We will use the world map to see how far people have traveled for the Gold Rush and we investigate other cultures to see where cuisine, people, and techniques come from! Maps are great printed on paper but sometimes it is too small to read and hard to find.
