When I was in school, I was not exposed to non-canon literature which often revolved around white narratives. And although I grew up loving books, I know that if I'd had access to a more diverse and inclusive reading selection, I would have understood my Latina identity and experiences as well as others. I want to have my kids fall in love with reading and I want to do that by offering them beautiful stories and books that not only present a mirror to their experiences but also windows in others' lives that will help develop their empathy and critical lens.

About my class
