Students need to make real world connections to what they are learning. I have noted in experiences with the "Hour of Code" that students from K through fifth quickly start problem solving and using math as opposed to dragging to solve a problem on a page. Designing, building and programming a robot of their own would definitely bring their experiences to the next level and ignite their desire to learn while enhancing their skills in art, mathematics, science, engineering, technology, and coding. Utilizing hands on applications and showing how it's relates to their future interests is a catapult for learning.
