As an inclusion teacher in the mathematics department, I sometimes provide individual assistance to our exceptional education students in a resource classroom. In order for my students to be able to complete assignments and prepare for assessments, they need a graphing calculator. The use of a graphing calculator is very important in mathematics, especially in the upper-level mathematics courses. When providing individual assistance to our students outside of the inclusive classroom environment, it is important that they have equal access to the same resources as their general education peers. All of my students have specific accommodations that they must have in the classroom as well as in the testing environment; and in order to successfully prepare them, they need the proper resources such as graphing calculators. The graphing calculator allows them to have hands-on experience while also serving as a visual aid to those visual learners.
