I teach 4th grade in the West Bronx at a neighborhood school that is starting its 6th year. My classroom library is small and I have no books on oceans. Most of my students come from low-income families. Many of these children have never had the opportunity to discover places other than where they live. I want my 4th graders to be able to discover the fascinating underwater world we call oceans and to become experts on various topics in oceanography. In order to accomplish this my students need a collection of books to start their research.
