Aloha there - Let's Play - Our students are looking to reconnect with peers and what better time to practice social skills than recess time! Social-emotional learning or SEL is a focus we are teaching in the classroom and we want to extend and reinforce those concepts in some real-time play experiences. Self-regulation can be taught in a variety of ways. These materials range from big games, individual physical activities to calming sensory items. As the school counselor, I will be introducing and demonstrating how to use these various items appropriately. This would be a great sample of activities to see where our student interests lead to. We can do these activities safely with the use of social distancing and of course practicing washing our hands.
