Our library has been well-loved, but with tight budgets it has not been quite as well maintained. We don't have much money for new materials, and our collection, particularly our Spanish section, is in need of a refresh. With a large Spanish-speaking student population, the books funded by this project will provide these students with reading options to grow their literacy skills. My goal this year is to make the library an inclusive destination on campus that students seek out in their lunch and recess breaks. To create a welcoming, cozy space, I have set up a small area where students who are craving quiet time or feeling overstimulated can curl up to sit or read. This space will support students in their social emotional regulation. All that is missing is the comfortable seating included in this project. My students will love having these small couches to use during their library time.
