Each day during reading and social studies small group instruction, we take notes and interact with different texts. My third graders need interactive and modeled lessons of close reads so they can become more effective at comprehending texts. A dry erase board easel would greatly benefit my students because I would be able to demonstrate written responses for open-ended questions and illustrate unknown words that could be easily seen at our small group table. Furthermore, a standing easel board would be beneficial to write an inviting "welcome" message on when special visitors are invited to our classroom for special events.
