As a first year teacher, the school supply list my students received was from the previous year. After being in school for two weeks, I've realized that the supplies my students were told to bring aren't set up to help my students become the best readers and writers that they can be. My students currently have one notebook for both reading and writing - when they are writing every single day. I am asking for the basic supplies my students did not bring to school. I am requesting sixty binders, forty-eight spiral notebooks, file crates for storage and a pencil sharpener. These supplies will be used to make sure that my students not only have access to notebooks for their writing assignments, but also organization to store their writing and reading notebooks.
