Many of the projects we work on in EAST involve circuitry and technology. The littleBits kits are hands-on tools with which the students can learn about these things while also gaining important problem-solving and design skills. These kits help our students be hands-on with understanding real-world technology at a young age and they LOVE it. These kits will be used with all my EAST classes but will primarily be used with my fifth graders to prepare them for more advanced items they will work on as they progress into more complicated projects. The driving force behind the EAST classes is project-based learning that has a positive effect on communities and schools. No project is approved unless there is a community or school client who will benefit from the work. These kits are a fun way for the students to construct circuits ranging in difficulty and eventually being prepared for projects using Arduino or Raspberry Pi.
