Students in my classroom come from diverse cultural backgrounds and many students are from families of low economic status. Our school is an arts-based charter school. Families often drive from far away because they are committed to their child's education. Teachers are committed to the idea that children will gain greater knowledge and growth through teaching in the arts. Students are engaged in hands on learning projects that encourage self reflection and growth. Students in my classroom are encouraged to take risks and feel proud of their achievements. Our classroom community embraces the diversity we represent and support one another in our learning.
