West High is an inner-city school with a population of over 2500 students ranging in age from twelve to eighteen. Some of the many programs available to students include Special Education, ESL Language Arts, Advanced Placement and Honors Programs, as well as The International Baccalaureate Program. The majority of my time is spent teaching English Language Learners. Many of these students struggle diligently to achieve even minimal success when it comes to state mandated competency tests. In an effort to more closely align our curriculum with that of the common core, my classes have taken on even more rigor. Some of my students are unable to succeed. I believe with a little support, through the use of programs that can be accessed through these tablets, my students can achieve more success.
