Our current classroom guided reading library is composed of limited print-out paper books that are not colorful or appealing. These text sets will allow my self-contained middle school class a variety of reading materials on their independent reading level. My students have various learning disabilities and therefore their reading levels range from first grade through fourth grade. This library will give my students access to books that they can read independently. It will also promote reading engagement with my students. These books will be used daily in our guided reading center. Students will be able to choose books within their reading level and learn literature components, such as characters, setting, and sequencing. Students will also have the opportunity to read at home with their parents and practice their fluency.
