I work as a kindergarten teacher at a Title I public school with 92% of the students receiving reduced/free lunch. Many of my students live under difficult circumstances. Some have no father figures and others must care for their siblings due to parent absence. They come to school with inadequate school supplies. There is little parent involvement. The students come in to my classroom with absolutely no prior knowledge or learning experiences. The children, many times, come with not just physical but emotional needs, as well, because of neglect or abuse. Despite these obstacles, my students are very eager to learn. Given the right opportunities and resources, I know that they can be successful in their lives. A lot of my students have told me that they want to grow up to be policemen, firemen, and doctors. They have dreams and determination to reach their goals with the support of the school and the c
