We are in south Texas at a public elementary school of about 750 students PK-5. We are located in a coastal town, which has chemical plants and fishing industries. We have many migrant families due to lots of agriculture in our area, and contract work at the plants. Our elementary school is a Title 1 school in south Texas directly hit by Hurricane Harvey. Most of our students qualify for free and reduced-priced lunch and have limited resources for learning at their home. However, that does not stop them from wanting to come to school to learn and explore new idea! The majority of our students are from low-income backgrounds and without access to technology and supplies. Our goal is to continue to foster students interest in hands-on learning and give them the resources they need to extend their imaginations despite their limited circumstances.
