Our BioLit class at Sioux Falls New Tech is a sophomore-level class that combines Biology with Literature. The class runs on a project-based learning (PBL) model with a heavy emphasis on group collaboration and oral communication skills. Popular projects include "Building Frankenstein's Monster" (where the class learns about human body systems to create a "monster" based on Frankenstein by Mary Shelley) and "Demon in the Freezer" (where students research and design a dangerous microbe to infect South Dakota, then create a containment plan for it).
