Our students are sixth, seventh, and eighth grade English language learners who come from incredibly diverse backgrounds. They come from 21 different countries from around the world and speak 14 different languages. Our students are comprised of newcomers, students who have lived here for a few years, and students who were born here in the United States. Many of them have left extended families, friends, and even siblings and parents behind in their home countries. Despite these challenging circumstances, our students come to school everyday motivated to learn. They understand the sacrifices that their families have made for the opportunity to pursue the American dream and are invested in their educations. Although they are the students, they are the ones who teach us something new and valuable every single day.

About my class
