Our school is in an older suburb of a major Florida city. At one time it was the "place" to live, but our demographics are shifting. We have 950+ students that have been rated an A school for the last 11 years. Our families have been hit hard as has the state with unemployment. Our student population is approx. 50% minority with approx. 35% Hispanic. We have approx. 45% economically disadvantaged. Our school is a wonderful place but unfortunately we fall in between in categories that receive funding. We are not needy enough to qualify for Title funds and we are not in a wealthy community for massive community support. Our PTSA is supportive with their limited funds.
