My students come from a variety of backgrounds, including refugee camps and foster homes. These differences make my students who they are and, often times, these differences cause arguments, misunderstandings, and hurt feelings. However, we have worked hard to build a classroom community. Our classroom community embraces differences and fosters respect and tolerance of others. My students have come to understand that differences exist not to divide us, but to educate us and enrich our quality of life. "Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much." -Helen Keller
