One of the keys to a successful classroom is to challenge each student on their current level and help them grow at their own rate. This is a common goal but hardly met when you have 150 students and one math teacher. Several of my students have struggled with math for years so while many are advanced, most are very behind in the foundational skills needed to get on track. However, I have found a useful tool to help me challenge each of my students at their individual levels while helping them practice concepts that they struggle with. How? The answer is IXL. IXL is an educational program and I have watched it work wonders with all math levels, from struggling students to advanced students. This website has various ways that I can keep weekly data on my students and individualize their learning. However, my school does not provide this program and it's rather expensive for one teacher to afford. I am a middle school math teacher and have up to 150 students a year. For me to purchase this program for 1 year for my students, it would cost $1600. I am hoping that I can raise these funds so I do not have to pay so much out of pocket and can still help my students get the educational gains that this program will provide!
