We are living in unprecedented times. Our students are surviving a world pandemic. However, there has been a significant loss of learning because of this catastrophic event. My project would put high interest, engaging books in the hands of all students in our K-6 elementary school to read this summer while at home. Loss of reading skills over the summer or "Summer Slide" as it is often referred to is real and detrimental to student achievement. Now it is even more pronounced due to loss of instruction because of COVID.
