I am a school social worker for a public school located in a neighborhood impacted by poverty. Many of the children I work with daily are those who are products of their unstable environments. They are affected by poverty, trauma, homelessness, and other toxic stressors. Their school is their safe place to feel wanted, loved, and surrounded by individuals who want to help them learn. Despite their challenges, every morning they chant: "Students, are we leaders? YES! Are we scholars? YES! Are we high achievers? YES! I hear the pride in their voices and believe that they want to go places vast and far!

About my class
