My students are told constantly that if they practice their reading, they will improve their abilities. The high school that they attend does not have a library for them to choose books from. Students are left to choose from a few books that have been gathered over the years. Because of the lack of options, it becomes difficult to engage struggling readers and get them on board. My students love to have choices. They thrive when working on research projects where they can choose a topic to focus their attention on. During their reading intervention time, they will thrive by having the ability to choose a book that has something to do with their personal interests. Reading intervention time is extremely important because students need to focus on becoming the best readers that they can be. It becomes difficult to engage students when the resources are not up to standards. Help my students fall in love with reading and support this project!
