It is hard to learn all the states in the United States when you are in 6th grade, but imagine learning them if you cannot speak English? I want to make learning more fun and hands-on. I want my students to be able to jump from state to state and walk across all the states in a class period with the United States rug. Having fun and being active in a lesson will help the students remember the states better then just sitting and listening to me talk about them. Some students need more attention and smaller groups to learn in. I want to provide the small group instruction at the horseshoe table. This would be a great way for students to sit together and have me close to them for extra encouragement and help.
