By giving up a traditional seating chart, my goal is to hand over the responsibility of seating choices to our students. Learning stools and balance balls will be utilized to create various stations and improve work productivity. Our new seating design will include: a small group instruction table with stools, stand-and-work tables with no chairs, bucket seat counter, a sit-on-the-floor area with pillows, a work table with wobble stools, and a stability ball chairs table. Students will explore the different seating options throughout the year and may have the flexibility to move seats/ areas throughout the day, if needed. I hope with the seating options, I will be able to meet the different learning needs of my students. My project will provide a comfortable physical learning environment with seating options that encourage collaboration, problem solving, flexibility and promotes autonomous learners.
