I am requesting some comfortable blankets to use in my reading corner. Children are born with an innate desire to explore, discover, and learn about the world around them. One of the best ways for my students to learn about new ideas and cultures is through reading, seeing as many of them will never get the opportunity to travel the world. My goal is to foster their love of reading by making it a comfortable and enjoyable part of the school day. The best way I can think to do that is to equip each student with their own comfortable themed blanket to use during their reading time. These blankets will become the resource my classroom needs to encourage each student to develop a desire for reading. As a result of the plethora of technology in today's world, many students don't experience reading that is free from ads and popups, which create a restless approach to learning. It is my hope that my students will escape this trend, learn to be still, and develop a love for reading "the old fashioned way." Science has shown that the weight of the blankets will reduce the amount of restlessness that so many of my students already demonstrate during this quiet time and will encourage them to rest, making them more focused in their reading.
