Our school is a large junior high school in rural South Carolina that serves a very diverse population. The percentage of students receiving subsidized lunch has more than doubled in the last 3 years. Class sizes are often very large(25 or more). Many students have learning disabilities, speak other languages, or feel peer pressure to avoid being labeled as a "nerd."
