After spending hours carefully planning and creating, the last place student artwork should be is on the floor!! Unfortunately, when you don't have enough drying racks, that's exactly where it ends up. One more drying rack in my art room would solve one million problems, including ripped artwork, accidental additions like footprints, and several buckets of tears. This past year, during Halloween, I introduced printmaking to my students. I've never seen them so inspired! They made print after print and my limit of 2 prints per student, quickly jumped to 4 and I would've made it to 6, if only I'd had the space. My room was covered. Even with 3 papers crammed per slot, my little 30 slot drying rack was not nearly enough to hold over 200 pieces of artwork per day. So, we resorted to the counter, then under the counter, and finally the floor. Needless to say, we had to stop. I had to limit my students because I didn't have the resources to allow them to continue. I never want that to happen again. My kids want to make more and with more drying space, we can do that. After seeing how ambitious and creative my artists were with the last printmaking project, I want to expand on it. My cart also includes a variety of printmaking materials including scrapers, styrofoam trays, and brayers that will inspire and challenge artists of all grade levels. Printmaking sparks a fire in my kids, but these tools are the fuel they need to let it go wild!
