My 17 amazing, active, hands on first graders are all about technology! Every day we work in literacy centers that allow them opportunities to engage in lessons on the computer and on our SMARTBoard. These are their favorite literacy centers to visit as they love technology. Overall this group really benefits from a hands-on approach. They work well in groups and enjoy accomplishing goals together when allowed. Having an iPad2 as one of our centers would allow them to practice and master skills while actively being involved and allow them to work on their own level. Our school is a Title 1 school. However, due to all the budget cuts, we just do not have as much funding available for technology. Our school has over 800 students and range world wide culturally. These materials would help not only my students this year, but they would benefit the future first grade students that enter my classroom.
