The resource I chose for this project is Maus (a graphic novel) about the Holocaust told through personified animal characters, graphics, and texts, allowing ELD students who are brand new to English access the storyline, plot, and characters, while still acquiring the language. These students will use graphic organizers, Kahoot for voculary acquisition, and the graphic novel Maus to learn the history of the Genocide, how it happened, how stories and plots develop, and how characters are developed by authors. Maus offers both functional language patterns in English (simple structures like greetings, formalities, idioms, etc), while also covering Historical concepts (Holocaust).
