I began an adventure with flexible seating in my classroom this year. I had a teacher in the next classroom over who was in need of some smaller chairs and I knew that we wouldn't use all of ours so I gave her the majority of my small chairs. In doing that I realized that I needed chairs for my guided reading table. Although I regretted giving my small chairs away I couldn't dare ask for them back so this year we have used chairs intended for a 4th or 5th grader. My students never said anything or complained but I noticed that the chairs were too big. They wiggle a lot and seem uncomfortable because they can't reach the table as well as before with the smaller chairs.
