"Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world." - Nelson Mandela My students attend a Title 1 public elementary school in west Houston that serves more than 750 diverse learners. We have an increased population of students that are international refugees from more than fifteen countries around the world, speaking at least 19 different languages. Most of our students receive free or reduced-rate lunch, are economically disadvantaged, or at-risk. Despite these obstacles, these kids still enjoy simple pleasures. They get excited when a teacher brings Popsicles at the end of a grading period to celebrate their achievements. They are very inquisitive and love discovering new things with little help. My students have the ability to amaze me every day. Curious, enthusiastic, and creative; my students are eager to immerse themselves in any kind of challenge.
