Most of my students, range in ages from 13 to 18, and come from disadvantaged, distressed and deprived backgrounds. As a result, many suffer from great shame and low self-esteem which may manifest in anger, bitterness, or resentment. Despite a trajectory of trauma and painful experiences, many have the will and motivation to succeed. Working with this special population to maintain rigorous high standards, while also providing positive support, is an incredibly enriching experience. I get inspired by the positive outcomes and the behavioral changes that drive their social interactions. I believe helping them to overcome limiting beliefs is key to their success in hi-stakes academic settings, and more importantly-life!
