Our school has 95% free or reduced lunches. This indicates that our neighborhood is economically challenged. 65+% of our students are minority members. My third, fourth, and fifth grade students require special education services for reading, writing and math. My class is made-up of students who struggle with foundational skills, and need instruction that specializes in meeting their needs. My students range in ability from Kindergarten to third grade. They need extra support, encouragement, and motivation to assist them in making the greatest gains they can with the disabilities that they are learning to cope with. Although they have to work harder than most of their peers to try to learn their lessons, they are learning to persevere, not lose hope, and do their best.
