Our Emotional Support classroom focuses on the well-being of the student before we address any educational work. Having literature about Social-Emotional growth will give access to that necessary reading time during each day. In my classroom, you can't do Bloom's stuff until you take care of the Maslow stuff. But with these books, we can help kill two birds with one stone. My students will be thoroughly engaged with the stories while unknowingly learning skills that they can apply to their lives. These books will continue to enhance the print-rich classroom that I strive to create. My students may not have access to books at home, but in my classroom they have a new world to explore!
