This is a multi-phase project to create an immersive world of history to pique student's curiosity using different points of view and demonstrating history is as diverse as our classroom. In phase one of the project, I have requested books that discuss the roles of the Mexican Americans, African Americans, Native Americans, Japanese Americans, and even the importance of animals in the World Wars. On the lighter side of things, I have requested books about ground breaking athletes in the Negro, Cuban, and All-American Girls Professional Baseball Leagues. Phase two will include Library of Congress Archival photographs of important moments and figures in history from 1880 - 1945. My hope is students will see a book or archival photograph in the classroom and it will spark a class discussion. These touch points and resources will be available for students learning from home.
