More than 50% of our student body come from military families. Our school is near a military base and we are proud to serve these families. It is heartbreaking to hear so many of my students longing for one of their parents to come back from a long trip due to their job assignment, but it amazes me of how strong these students can be. These kids show up to school everyday with a smile on their face and a sense of determination to make their parents proud. Other than a military based school, we also serve the surrounding community which falls under the low socioeconomic category. Being a Title 1 school, we face all types of challenges. From kids not having coats in the winter, or decent meals at home, to kids who are struggling academically or emotionally. Even with these challenges we see endless possibilities of what these students can become and what they can accomplish.
