I am a second grade teacher a magnificent group of students. They amaze me everyday. These books will make a difference in my students' comprehension and foster a love of reading. We will use the books to work on retelling the story in order, using picture clues to help us understand why something is happening, make predictions, understand characters and setting, finding the author's purpose, asking questions to help us better understand the story, to hear proper fluency, and to use as a topic to write about. Learning comprehension strategies with quality picture books, will help the students become better readers and to better understand what they are reading. Understanding the story will allow students to become more interested in their reading and expose them to a variety of quality text. A love of reading will also help students for a lifetime.
