Maya Angelou once said, "I've learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel." I believe that the students in my class are each unique and have their own special talents. It is my job to cultivate those talents and make my students feel loved, accepted, appreciated and safe. My students are fifth graders who live in a rural public school district 60 miles north of New York City. They are in their final year of elementary school, excited and enthusiastic about the things that we do in class. My students come from a variety of diverse ethnic cultures and backgrounds. But when it comes right down to it they all want and need to be loved, appreciated and accepted. Overall, my goal is to grow life-long learners who lead purposeful, passionate lives and contribute meaningfully to their community.
