In my classroom, I have always used flexible seating. Students have been able to choose where and how in the classroom they learn best. This year looks so different but I still want to provide my students with choice. With so many health restrictions limiting the choices students have in their educational journey, it is important to give them any safe options they can decide upon. Students will be able to choose their desk height- on the floor, sitting, or standing; and they will be able to choose the type of seat they sit in- standing, using a stool, tractor seat stool, chair, ball, cushion, etc. All items that I have in our classroom as options for my students must be easily sanitized- no fabric- in order to keep everyone as safe as possible. Giving students these options will allow them to have some control over how they learn this year.
