Our students attend a public elementary school in Arizona. We have a very high Hispanic population, almost entirely of Mexican descent-thus our mariachi band. The overwhelming majority of our students live below or close to the poverty line, and most depend entirely on the school system to provide them with school supplies. They are enthusiastic learners, particularly when their work relates to their own culture and heritage. Our mariachi band has been operating for the last three years, and has grown every year.
