Listening to literacy is a helpful tool for all students in my class. Whether they struggle with reading or read very well, there are many benefits to listening to literacy. Listening to literacy helps all readers learn to love reading, immerse in reading, and feel comfortable reading. It helps to eliminate the stresses and anxieties of reading such as decoding and comprehension. It builds self-esteem. It helps my students that struggle comprehend the story. It also helps the students in my classroom with IEPs, or different learning needs. A book is a tool that does not work the same for every student. Not every student can turn the pages, read the words, or can see the book. Therefore, I plan to use these headphones in different subject areas in my classroom and throughout our daily routine. Whether in group work or independent work, the headphones will allow me to work with different levels of readers and help me include them all in our learning.
