I am adding speech and debate this year, which will allow my Humanities students to expand their critical thinking skills into active debate. These books and teaching texts will help build and guide this year, and years to come, for all of my students. Teaching humanities through the lens of debate allows all voices to be heard, respected, and academically challenged. We are applying the debate method to world history and the ELA year-long schedule. Using the books on this list will allow the kids to have a wide range of choices.
