The Sphero Mini is a programmable ball. Students will learn how to write code that will navigate the ball through various mazes. These items will help students learn how solve real-world problems by coding with JavaScript and Python through Sphero EDU and Raspberry Pi Educational curriculum. The Sphero RVR is a next-level programmable vehicle. It is completely hackable. There are multiple sensors that students will learn how to code input and output to use in controlling the vehicle. Students will learn various principles including empathy by completing code challenges. Students will use the Raspberry Pi kit to write programs that will interact with a touch screen device. It will double as a controller to the Sphero RVR while making it expandable to other add-ones. Students will learn concepts such as how to create autonomous driving capabilities and the use of infrared technology. I use materials like this in the classroom to enhance learning Computer Science principles. As students are able to realize their own creations, they often come back to my classroom after school on their own initiative to continue mastering their coding skills.
