Clay has played an important role in many cultures around the world. Almost every group of people on Earth has used it in some way or another to improve their lives. But it has also shown us something very important: humans love to create, and they love to make things beautiful when they can. This project will teach students different processes and techniques used around the world to create beautiful ceramic artwork, both functional and decorative.
Clay is an important sensory tool to help students problem solve and use their hands to create something all their own. Many students feel a sense of pride when they complete a clay project, knowing they made something that didn't exist before!
My goal is to help students learn about cultures and customs from all around the world, with a specific focus in Latin America since most of my students are descendants from there. I hope to help them create something new while developing pride in their heritage!
