My 21 second graders are a varied bunch from different backgrounds in a school of about 600 students that contains kindergarten-5th grade. Our community places a high emphasis on education, and our district is very committed to giving learners a hands-on, engaging learning experience. I am especially driven to provide a memorable experience for my learners this year, as they are so interested in learning, and so many of them are very self-motivated. I have a group of gifted and talented learners, many of whom are often participating in alternate assignments and projects, and I have many students who still need a good deal of support to ensure their progress continues on the right track.
