I teach in an inner city area where a lot of our literature and books do not reflect our students or their culture. Including these books in my classroom would not only allow students to see characters like them but also see that they can be anything. Black boys and girls need characters that give them hope and joy that look like them. Stories such as I am Enough would encourage my students to understand that one day they will change the world for the better. This library will not only help them as students, but it will help me, as their teacher. I can open their minds to new worlds and experiences through diverse literature.
