These novels are from a variety of genres and levels to guarantee that no matter what the student's interest, there is a book for them. Since many are two or more years behind academically, some have been or are homeless, and others are experiencing difficult situations at home, I want to provide them with a way to go on adventures. Sometimes the only escape is through one's imagination and there is no better way to do that than reading a great book. These novels will not only provide students with an escape, but also help to promote and build their love of literature. This builds a love of reading that they will use the rest of their lives. Building literacy among these students will allow them better job opportunities no matter which path they decide to choose. These novels will help promote and build their lexile levels for them to show academic growth this year. Like we all know, reading is involved in every content area. By helping to promote reading you are also promoting science, history, and math.
